what is a job application letter?

A cover letter that we write when we want to apply for a job that we get from a vacancy in both mass media and electronic media.

 

Job application letters have three functions?

·         Firstly, as a written proof when applying for job.

·         Secondly, as a means of communication.

·         Lastly, as a consideration for employer.

 

Job application letter consists of :

1.    Resume’s or CV’s stand as someone’s first impression.

2.    Cover letter.

A letter that covers:

Ø  The position you are applying to.

Ø  What makes you a strong candidate?

Ø  Why should employers give you a chance for interview?

Ø  How can employers reach you?

 

Generic Structure:
1. salutation
2. introduction
3. main message or body
4. the close
5. complimentary close

Guideline to Write :

·         Length
No more than 1 page long

·         Fromat Page and margin
Sigle-spaced with a space between each paragraph

·         Font
Use Traditional Font like: Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial with size 10-12.

 

Section :

·         Heading
Name, Addres, Phone number, Email

·         Salutation
Polite Greeting (Dear sir/madam)

·         Body Of Letter
1st Paragraph : job You apply for, vacancy you see
2nd paragraph: The most important detail about you
3rd paragraph : Thankyou to the employer and follow-up information

·         Complementary close
Polite Close: Sincerly yours
