Definition and the Purpose of Recount Text

Recount text is a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity. Its purpose is to entertain or informing the reader. Or a text which retells event or experiences in the past.

Writers should remember that while the purpose is to retell they still need to craft their retelling to be interesting to the reader.  Rather than retelling every minor detail, the writer needs to select important information or events, and expand on these in an interesting manner.  If you were recounting a sports day, you could focus on the place, time, events, and results, but to interest, the reader thinks about what would lift this above the dreary detail - What was the highlight of the day for you?  How did you feel when you tripped just before the finish line?  Did anything funny or surprising occur?

	Example :  Alexander Graham Bell Alexander Graham Bell is known as the inventor of the telephone from America. Bell was born March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland and received education at the Universities of Edinburgh and London. Then in 1870 he moved to Canada and then moved again to America in 1871. While in America, Bell taught the deaf and dumb, he popularized the teaching system called visual language. As a child, Bell had shown a great curiosity about the world, which led him to frequently collect plant samples. At the age of 12, Alexander made a simple device that combined a spinning paddle with a series of brushes made of nails to separate the wheat from the skin. This equipment can operate properly for many years. Since the age of 18, Bell has been researching ideas on how to transmit and transfer speech. In 1874 while he was working on the telegraph, he developed new basic ideas from the telephone. The experiments he carried out with his assistant Thomas Watson finally proved successful on 10 March 1876, when the word in transit was: “watson, come here; i want you. " A series of demonstrations of the use of the telephone, Tela introduced the telephone to the world and was led by his company, the Bell telephone Company in 1877. Bell died on August 2, 1922.
